Pada pembuatan es krim perlu ditambah garam dapur karena garam berfungsi untuk menurunkan suhu pada adonan es krim sehingga adonan tadi menjadi beku dan berbentuk es. Jika tidak diberi garam maka suhu adonan tadi tidak berubah dan tidak dingin karena tidak ada yang merubah suhu di adonan tersebut.
